Pinnacle Entertainment Group (PEG) has taken over production of Pulposaurus Entertainment’s Conan: Rise of Monsters miniatures game, with help from Reaper Miniatures and Ulisses Spiele North America. A Kickstarter to fund the game will launch on June 13.

Famed Conan comics writer and editor Roy Thomas will write the introduction and opening of the narrative campaign for the game, PEG recently announced.

Pulposaurus was formed by PEG president Shane Hensley, along with several other game industry veterans in 2015 (see “New 'Conan' Miniatures Skirmish Game”). Hensley described how the Conan game came to Pinnacle.  “Pinnacle Entertainment Group (Deadlands, Savage Worlds) has grown significantly in the last few years and opened up new offices in Gilbert, Arizona,” Hensley told ICv2. “The new facilities allowed the team there to set up everything needed to finish work on a complex miniatures games like Conan: Rise of Monsters--a team to playtest with, dedicated table space, video equipment, and so on.”

“Once all worked out, it made sense for Pinnacle to bring the game in-house and finish the final stretch to production,” Hensley continued. “All of the original partners remain involved and retain shares in the project, but to make things simpler going forward, the Pulposaurus corporate entity is in the process of being acquired by Pinnacle itself.”

Reaper Miniatures began working with Pulposaurus in 2015, providing advice and creating resin terrain pieces for the game. The first few pieces are viewable in the gallery below.

Ullises Spiele North America is also involved with Conan:  Rise of Monsters.  “Ulisses continues to help market and finance aspects of the game, and additional joint ventures are already in the works,” Hensley told ICv2.  Hensley and PEG Brand Manager Tim Brown have been working with Ulisses NA for a while on Torg Eternity and The Dark Eye (see “Ulisses Reveals 'Torg Eternity' RPG”).

“One of the great things about our industry is how our love for the games themselves makes us partners more often than competition.” Hensley said. “I've been blessed my whole career to work with great people, and the experience with Conan, Ulisses, Reaper, and the original Pulposaurus founders remains a high point among high points."
