Jack in the Box announced that it is switching to 100-percent cage-free eggs by 2025.
Jack in the Box is switching to 100-percent cage-free eggs by 2025, according to The Humane Society of the United States.
"In response to evolving research on cage-free housing environments, and to consumers' changing expectations and preferences, we have informed our egg suppliers of our expectation that they transition the majority of our egg supply to cage-free by 2020, and to fully transition to cage-free eggs by 2025," stated Jack in the Box in its updated animal welfare report.
The move follows similar announcements from some of the world's largest restaurant chains and food companies, including McDonald's, Taco Bell, Burger King, Starbucks, Aramark, Sodexo, Kellogg's, Panera Bread, Unilever, and TGI Fridays.
"Jack in the Box is moving our food supply toward a better future for animals, and welcome this latest announcement from the company," said Matthew Prescott, senior food policy director for The Humane Society.
The San Diego-based company has nearly 3,000 locations nationwide and a large breakfast program.
