Bengaluru: Accusing the BDA of denying information to the public on the proposed steel bridge from Chalukya Circle to Hebbal, former IAS officer, M.N. Vijay Kumar claimed on Saturday that there was no transparency on the project and warned the matter could go to the Anti-Corruption Bureau.
“The BDA and both the L&T and STUP Constructions, which are involved in the steel bridge, are not providing proper facts to the people. Such denial of information only reflects the arrogance of corrupt ministers and bureaucrats in the state,” he charged, speaking to reporters here.
Revealing that he had written to the state government, BDA and the private firms involved in the project to make the details public, he warned that if they still did not provide the information he wanted, the Anti-Corruption Bureau could step in for investigation.
“I have marked a copy of the letter to the bureau requesting it to treat it as a complaint of massive corruption against those involved in the project if I dont receive the information asked for,” he said.
Recalling that the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) had requested all ministries, departments, organisations and corporate companies to be transparent in their work and maintain the highest standards of ethical conduct, Mr Kumar regretted that the BDA was only giving vague technical details about the bridge and had also denied giving more time to international bidders as alleged.
Mr Kumar said he failed to understand how it could entrust the work of preparing the detailed project report to STUP Consultancy, when it was blacklisted by the Kerala government.
