According to media reports, EMC Corp. (EMC) is considering a merger proposal it received from VMware Inc. (VMW). EMC is the majority owner of VMware.
VMware gapped open lower Wednesday and declined throughout the first half of the session. The stock recovered some ground going into the close, but finished down by 3.13 at $78.09 on above average volume. VMware has been declining for the past week and sank to over a 6-month low.
