Milaina Wright excited to lead Manulife Financial LPGA Classic

The Manulife Financial LPGA Classic has a new tournament director.

On Tuesday, organizers announced Milaina Wright will take over the role vacated by Richard Kuypers, who announced last month he was stepping down after three years in the post.

Wright takes over as the tournament shifts from Grey Silo in Waterloo to Whistle Bear Golf Club in Cambridge next year.

She has been involved with Golf Canada for seven years helping to organize such events as the RBC Canadian Open and the Canadian Pacific Women’s Open.

She also worked for the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport with involvement in the Canadian Anti-Doping Program.

Wright, a former women’s basketball player at both the NCAA Division 1 and CIS level, says “I know it will be fulfilling to work on such a great event, which is so well supported and celebrated by the community.”

The 2015 Manulife Financial LPGA Classic will run from June 3rd to the 7th.

570’s Hayley Zimak spoke to Wright about her new role:
