SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Happy September! The fair is halfway over, but festival season in Central New York is far from finished. Take a deep breath after the fairgrounds close, then carry on to the next big weekend stacked with concerts, movie screenings and sports games.

on Sept. 3, for the christening concert of the new event venue located on the western shore of Onondaga Lake.

6. Tie-Dye at Green Lakes State Park

Bring a T-shirt, pillow case, or bandanna to tie-dye at the Green Lakes State Park on Monday, Sept. 7. Visit the Tulip Hill Shelter anytime between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. with a cotton article to dye.

7. Vineyard 5K

The 4th annual Vineyard 5K again will benefit Feed My Starving Children, which packs more than 2 million meals for starving children. Race events include a 5K timed race as well as a 1-mile untimed walk.

8. Scare-A-Con

The

2015 Scare-A-Con

lineup features a slew of recognizable names and faces from horror and sci-fi films coming to Central New York. The biggest event may be original "Dukes of Hazzard" star John Schneider, who will attend the Northeast premiere of his new horror-comedy "Smothered" on Friday, Sept. 11. Other notable celebrities include Anthony Michael Hall of "The Breakfast Club" and "Weird Science" fame, former "E.T." child actor C. Thomas Howell and "The Fog" actress Adrienne Barbeau.

9. CNY Playhouse presents '9 to 5'

Based on the 1980 hit movie, "9 to 5" is set in the late 1970s as a comedy of friendship and revenge in the Rolodex era. Pushed to the boiling point, three female co-workers concoct a plan to get even with their sexist, egotistical boss.

Repeats every Sunday, Thursday, Saturday from Friday, Sept 11 to Saturday, Sept. 26. Thursday, Friday and Saturday shows take place at 8 p.m. and Sunday shows take place at 2 p.m. On Saturday, Sept. 19 only, there's a dinner at 6:30 p.m. before the 8 p.m. show.

10. Syracuse Irish Festival 2015

11. Golden Harvest Festival

The Golden Harvest Festival combines is an old-fashioned country fair and traditional harvest festival with non-stop music, craft vendors, a super-natural midway for kids, wildlife programs, canoeing, kayaking, hayrides, food and more.

Beaver Lake Nature Center at 8477 East Mud Lake Rd., Baldwinsville.

When:

Saturday, Sept. 12 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 13 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

How much:

$5 for adults and $1 for kids aged 6-17. Kids 5 and younger are free.

12. Symphonie Fantastique

Symphoria, the professional symphony orchestra in Central New York, kicks off its 2015-16 season on Sept. 12 with a performance of "Symphonie Fantastique" featuring pianist twins Christina and Michelle Naughton. The organization's third season will feature more concerts than ever, new venues and collaborations with Disney and cirque performers.

13. BookFair and Acoustic Music Celebration

Folkus Project

will have a BookFair and Acoustic Music Celebration on Sept. 12 at Barnes & Noble. The day-long series of performances by talented local and regional musicians, including Kevin Barrigar, Donna Dennihy Steve Pfanenstiel, Amanda Rogers and Mark Wahl. During the BookFair week (Sept. 12-18), Barnes & Noble will donate a percentage of any purchases made to The Folkus Project for just mentioning Folkus.

Held the second Sunday of each month through October around the Museum of Science & Technology (500 S. Franklin St.), Bruce Block's monthly market offers fine antiques, collectibles, vintage fashions, lighting, pottery, art deco and jewelry.

16. CNY TomatoFest

Enjoy lots of great entertainment, tasty food offerings and live music at the 30th annual Auburn Tomato Fest. For the younger set, there are games available at the Family Fun Tent and a Max Man Reptile Rescue Presentation. There will be a free shuttle Centro bus from Auburn High School to the main gate. Colum McCann's 'Let the Great World Spin'

18. Gifford Lecture: Colum McCann

The

Gifford Lecture Series 2015-2016 season

begins on Sept. 15 with Colum McCann, author of "Transatlantic." Born in Ireland, McCann has written six novels and two collections of stories. His novel "Let the Great World Spin" won the 2009 National Book Award. His short film "Everything in this Country Must," directed by Gary McKendry, was nominated for an Oscar in 2005. The Friends of the Central Library presents the author lecture series as a fundraiser. The upcoming season marks 20 years bringing literary speakers to Syracuse.

20. World Indoor Lacrosse Championships

The Federation of International Lacrosse World Indoor Lacrosse Championship is an international tournament held every four years. For the first time ever, the games will be held at The Onondaga Nation in 2015. The nations competing are Australia, Canada, the Czech Republic, England, Finland, Germany, Ireland, the Iroquois Nationals, Israel, Serbia, Switzerland, Turkey and the U.S. The games commence at the War Memorial in Syracuse on Sept. 18. The traditional round-robin tournament play will continue for a week at the Onondaga and Village Arenas on the Onondaga Nation. Finals will take place at the Carrier Dome on Sept. 27.

22. Madison County Hop Fest Paired Beer Dinner

Hop Fest Weekend begins on Sept. 18 with a four course Paired Beer Dinner at Ye Olde Landmark Tavern in Bouckville. 24. My Lucky Tummy: Dinner and a Movie

My Lucky Tummy and Inkululeko will collaborate to bring CNY "Dinner and a Movie," in which attendees can sample homestyle dishes from across the African continent, made by chefs from Syracuse's Refugee and New American communities. After, "Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom" will be screened, followed by a discussion of themes from the film.

29. 'The Undersigned' Premiere

The Syracuse-based action-adventure series premiere of "

The Undersigned

" will take place at the Landmark Theatre gala next fall. The Syracuse-based series follows three homeless, street-smart women who turn their lives around after being hired by the Syracuse Police to "steal" money back from criminals. Every time the women recover stolen money, they leave a cut at a local shelter and quickly become known as pillars of strength for those in need. All the proceeds from the gala ticket sales will benefit Vera House.
