When it comes to your health, these certified nursing assistants are at the top of their game, and on Friday they learned some handy skills.

Interim HealthCare is helping home health aides and CNA’s get back to the basics by learning how to iron clothes and cook a simple meals.

Hospice administrator Tiffany Brubaker says the company’s goal is to improve the lives of its patients, and help senior citizens be able to age comfortably in their own home.

“We do have a younger population helping serve them,” she said. “So we have to make sure we’re meeting the customer’s goals and the customer’s needs and if that generation is wanting freshly pressed shirts and shorts then that’s what we provide.”

Part of the days lesson included food preparations, proper food storage and handling, energy conservation and laundry.

“We did chose ironing because it seems to be a generational skill gap that we’ve identified, so we thought that would be a good 101,” Brubaker said.

Aids with Interim HealthCare go into patients’ homes to give them one-on-one attention and to help with tasks around the house such as a meal prep and laundry.
