Informer: A new restaurant and a road race

James Phillips’s “Alice’s Sister Thinking About a Kid” will be featured at the Gateway Arts Gallery in Brookline.

“Media Blitz” will be on display from Tuesday, Sept. 1, to Nov. 4 at the Gateway Arts Gallery in Brookline. The show will feature pieces that reflect on electronic and popular media, according to an announcement, with works including James Phillips’ “Alice’s Sister Thinking About a Kid” (detail to the right). Gateway Arts is dedicated to providing art-based services to adults with disabilities across Greater Boston. The gallery exhibition is on the second floor at 62 Harvard St. A public reception will be held on Oct. 1 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Not Your Average Joe’s recently opened a new location at 56 Market Place Drive in Waltham. The 6,500-square-feet space features an open-kitchen layout and a fire pit on the outdoor patio, according to the company. The Drumlin Farm Wildlife Sanctuary, at 208 South Great Road in Lincoln, will have a Caterpillar Discovery Day on Sept. 12. Biologist Samuel Jaffe will visit Drumlin Farm with his “Caterpillar Lab” from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Visitors will have a chance to hold caterpillars and learn about the creatures through photographs, art, scientific studies, and live animals. Throughout the day there will be caterpillar and butterfly crafts and an insect scavenger hunt, according to an announcement. All activities are free with admission ($8 for adults, $6 for seniors and children, free for Massachusetts Audubon Society members). More information can be found at www.massaudubon.org/drumlinfarm.

The Wrentham Developmental Center, at 131 Emerald St., will host its 35th annual Crackerbarrel Classic 5K Road Race/Walk on Sept. 12 starting at 9 a.m. All of the proceeds from the race will go toward the therapeutic recreational needs of the facility’s residents. The event will include breakfast and refreshments, a raffle, and age-division prizes, according to organizers. Free T-shirts will be provided for the first 200 people registered by Saturday, Sept. 5.
