Were these sexy models movie bombshells — or just bombs?

With her buzzy teen dramedy “Paper Towns” in theaters Friday, Cara Delevingne is poised to tackle the notoriously tricky switch from model to big-screen star.

Considering she has no fewer than five films — including “London Fields” with Johnny Depp, “Pan” and the hotly anticipated “Suicide Squad” — due out within the year, the 22-year-old London native might be on the right track.

“I don’t want to be that cliché model-slash-actress,” Delevingne said in a recent interview.

Here are CVs of leggy ladies who fit that bill.

The All-Stars

• Anjelica Huston

Modeling cred: In the ’70s, she posed for Richard Avedon, was a Halston muse and had her hair cut by Vidal Sassoon.

Acting chops: She’s a Hollywood legacy — her father was famed director John Huston — with critical hits (“The Grifters”), blockbusters (“The Addams Family”) and indie favorites (“The Royal Tenenbaums”) under her belt.

Awards: 1 Oscar (the first third-generation winner in Academy Awards history, right), in addition to 83 other wins and nominations

Flash fact: Model-world impresario Eileen Ford once advised Huston to get a nose job — but she refused.

• Andie MacDowell

Modeling gigs: Multiple ’80s-era Vogue and Cosmo covers, as well as ad campaigns for top brands like Gianfranco Ferré, Armani and Saint Laurent.

Acting chops: A breakout role in Steven Soderbergh’s “sex, lies and videotape” led to lead parts in a slew of benchmark ’90s films (such as “Groundhog Day” and “Four Weddings and a Funeral”), as well as this month’s megahit “Magic Mike XXL” (right).

Awards: 1 Independent Spirit Award, 1 César Award, 3 Golden Globe nominations

Flash fact: She met her first husband, former model Paul Qualley, in 1985 on the set of a Gap ad.

• Cameron Diaz

Modeling gigs: Diaz signed with Elite Models when she was 16, scored jobs for clients like Levi’s and Calvin Klein and a year later nabbed the July 1990 cover of Seventeen.

Acting chops: After 1994’s “The Mask” made her a bona fide star, Diaz became one of Hollywood’s highest-paid actresses via big-time roles in “There’s Something About Mary” (right) and “Being John Malkovich,” along with the uber-bankable “Shrek” and “Charlie’s Angels” franchises.

Awards: 4 Golden Globe nominations

Flash fact: Diaz was nicknamed Skeletor when growing up because she was so tall and skinny like a model.

• Milla Jovovich

Julio Donoso/Sygma/Corbis

Modeling gigs: As one of the most-booked models of the ’90s, she walked every major runway and fronted a laundry list of campaigns, from Christian Dior and Donna Karan to Mango and L’Oréal.

Acting chops: Jovovich’s breakthrough performance in Luc Besson’s sci-fi blockbuster “The Fifth Element” was a precursor to the international success of her “Resident Evil” quintet (right) — the highest-grossing film series based on a video game.

Awards: 1 Hollywood Film Award, 2 Saturn Award nominations

Flash fact: In 1988, Richard Avedon shot an 11-year-old Jovovich for a controversial cover of Mademoiselle, making her the youngest model ever to appear on the cover of an American women’s fashion mag.

The Flops

• Cindy Crawford

Modeling gigs: Arguably the most famous of the ubiquitous ’90s “supers,” Crawford and her signature beauty mark dominated virtually every important catwalk, campaign and glossy from 1986, when she signed with Elite Models, until her retirement in 2000.

Acting chops: She played leading lady only once, in 1995’s “Fair Game” (right, with William Baldwin) — a critical and commercial bomb.

Awards: 3 Razzie Award nominations

Flash fact: The model spent six years hosting MTV’s “House of Style,” and she worked the whole first year for free.

• Tyra Banks

Modeling gigs: Began her career at 16, walking high-designer runways in Europe and shooting for the likes of Vogue before turning to more lucrative work, including an eight-year stint as a Victoria’s Secret Angel.

Acting chops: Despite two beloved performances — in the cult Disney TV flick “Life-Size” and equally cultish “Coyote Ugly” — her cinematic prospects came to a stunning halt after 2002’s widely panned “Halloween: Resurrection.”

Awards: No acting accolades, but 2 Daytime Emmys (for her eponymous talk show), plus 2 Teen Choice Awards and a GLAAD Media Award for “America’s Next Top Model”

Flash fact: Banks was the first black woman to grace the covers of GQ and the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.

• Gisele Bündchen

Modeling gigs: Since bursting onto the fashion scene in 1996, the original “Brazilian bombshell” has become the most in-demand — and highest-paid — model of her generation by way of multimillion dollar contracts with megabrands like H&M, Chanel and Pantene.

Acting chops: After a turn in the profitable but poorly received 2004 remake of “Taxi” (right), she landed a three-line cameo in “The Devil Wears Prada” and hasn’t been seen on the big screen since.

Awards: 2 Teen Choice Award nominations

Flash fact: Bündchen has a fraternal twin sister, Patricia, who’s also a model.

• Kate Upton

Storms Media Group; Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation

Modeling gigs: The 2011 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue “Rookie of the Year” snagged covers of the lad mag in 2012 and 2013, respectively, as well as coveted spots on the front of CR Fashion Book, V magazine, GQ, Vogue and the 100th anniversary issue of Vanity Fair.

Acting chops: Upton’s highly publicized performance in last year’s revenge rom-com “The Other Woman” made out at the box office, but earned largely negative — and dismissive — reviews, and her role in “The Three Stooges” (right) failed to make a splash. She has only one film slated for 2016.

Awards: 1 MTV Movie Award nomination, 2 Teen Choice Award nominations

Flash fact: Upton’s 2013 Sports Illustrated cover was the first fashion spread shot in Antarctica.

The Toss-Ups

• Rosie Huntington-Whiteley

Arun Nevader/FilmMagic; Jasin Boland

Modeling gigs: In the decade since she got her big break shooting for Teen Vogue at 17, she’s gone from Abercrombie & Fitch girl to Victoria’s Secret Angel, with campaigns for Burberry and countless sexed-up editorials in between.

Acting chops: A debut in the 2011 box-office goliath “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” was enough to earn her a spot in this year’s “Mad Max: Fury Road” cast, though The Post’s film critic Lou Lumenick said her acting in the former made “fired predecessor Megan Fox look like Meryl Streep by comparison.”

Awards: 1 CinemaCon Award, 1 Spike Guys’ Choice Award, 2 Razzie Award nominations

Flash fact: According to multiple interviews, she learned to catwalk from two gay Jamaican men she lived with in London when she was 16.

• Gemma Ward

Peter Mountain ©Disney Enterprises, Inc.; Randy Brooke/WireImage

Modeling gigs: Ward was the It girl of the mid-aughts and triggered a vogue for models with babydoll faces. Before retiring in 2009, she secured top-dollar deals with labels like Louis Vuitton, Valentino and Dolce & Gabbana. Her comeback at last year’s Prada runway show went viral.

Acting chops: Her first performance — a lead part in the 2008 indie film “The Black Balloon” — garnered positive reviews, and her go as a masked killer in that year’s “The Strangers” was an intriguing move. But since, she’s only landed bit roles in “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” and “The Great Gatsby.”

Awards: 1 Film Critics Circle of Australia Award nomination

Flash fact: In 2004, at 16, Ward became the youngest model ever to grace the cover of American Vogue.

• Cara Delevingne

Modeling gigs: Touted as the world’s first “social supermodel,” Delevingne has been the name on everyone’s lips since she made her 2011 debut on the Burberry runway. She’s walked all the major shows, been splashed across endless covers and starred in ads for Tom Ford, DKNY and Fendi, to name a few.

Acting chops: Her buzzy lead role in “Paper Towns” will be the determining factor, since her two other parts — a blink-and-you-missed-it cameo in 2012’s “Anna Karenina” and one in the 2014 dud “The Face of an Angel”— leave much to be desired.

Awards: 1 CinemaCon Award, 1 British Independent Film Award nomination

Flash fact: She was scouted and signed by Storm Model Management co-founder Sarah Doukas, the same agent who discovered Kate Moss.
