Many Asian countries apparently fancy flip phones even in 2015, and once in a while, such retro devices make it to the U.S. via third-party sellers like Expansys. Thanks to the demand, a new flip phone dubbed “Samsung W2016” is official in China with top-of-the-shelf configurations on board.

The clamshell form-factor clad Samsung W2016 is now available for purchase via China Mobile. However, at this point, there is no official confirmation available to ascertain the release date outside China.

As far as specifications go, Phone Arena says the Samsung W2016 flip phone reportedly features two 3.9-inch exterior and interior displays, aided by 1,280 x 768 pixels screen resolution. Under the hood, Samsung’s own Exynos 7420 processor, running at 2.1 GHz, powers the device and it comes backed by a solid 3 GB of RAM.

When it comes to memory capacity, the relatively small device packs a punch with a phenomenal 64 GB native storage space. A cool 16 MP rear-facing camera unit is also part of the handset. It’s worth reminding that, this is the same sensor seen in the flagship Samsung Galaxy S6. To top it off, a generous 5 MP sensor can be seen at the front for selfies.

Speaking of design, the retro flip phone reportedly comes with a glass-and-metal chassis. The finish ultimately looks similar to the premium design seen in the Galaxy S6 series and Note 5 lineup. The icing on the cake, however, is the stunning color options. The Silver and Gold variants give the device a whole new level of sophisticated look.

Other key Samsung W2016 specifications include preinstalled Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS, 2,000 mAh battery cell and wireless charging option.

What do you think of this flip phone? In case, this device lands in the U.S., will you be interested in purchasing one? Feel free to leave a comment.
