‘A Different World’ Reunion: Cast Reunites For Actor’s 50th Birthday

There was an emotional reunion of A Different World cast members recently with pictures to prove it!

Kadeem Hardison, who played Dwayne Wayne on the hit NBC series, celebrated his 50th birthday on July 24. To celebrate the major milestone, he was joined by quite a few of his former cast members and close friends.

Each of the cast members that was able to show up tweeted about the reunion via their respective Twitter pages – creating a nice-sized online photo album for A Different World fans to enjoy.

Not every cast member from A Different World showed up to celebrate Kadeem Hardison’s birthday, so there are quite a few memorable faces missing from these pictures.

However, most of the core cast members were present: Kadeem Hardison, Jasmine Guy (Whitley), Darryl M. Bell (Ron) and Cree Summer (Freddie).

A Different World was developed in the late 1980s as a spin-off series for The Cosby Show. The original concept of the Bill Cosby-created series focused on Denise Huxtable (played by Lisa Bonet) and her days at Hillman College, a fictional historically black college. As fans and critics of the show know, though, the show quickly grew to be much more than just a Cosby Show spin-off.

For six seasons and over 140 episodes, A Different World cemented the careers of quite a few actors and actresses who may have gone unnoticed or overlooked in Hollywood otherwise – including Oscar-winning actress Marisa Tomei.

According to Twitter, the lasting impact of the popular series is still apparently clear more than two decades after the airing of the final episode.

In a way, Kadeem Hardison was able to celebrate his 50th birthday with two of his TV families. In addition to reuniting with his former cast members from A Different World, he was also wished a Happy Birthday by his current co-stars from the hit Disney series K.C. Undercover starring Zendaya Coleman.
