PORT JERVIS - The Outdoor Club of Port Jervis, a group of nature enthusiasts devoted to developing the Port Jervis Watershed Park and Recreation Area and promoting outdoor activities, has scheduled two events this Memorial Day weekend.

Roger Kalin will lead an organized hike at 9 a.m. Sunday at Boehmler Pond in Sparrowbush. Participants will meet at the Boehmler Pond parking lot on Peenpack Trail, about 2 miles in from Route 42. The hike will be about 7 miles. All are welcome, but the hike is not recommended for children.

Port Jervis City Court Judge James Hendry will lead a kids’ hike and scavenger hunt at 3 p.m. Monday for children under 10 years old. The hike will be about two miles. Participants are asked to meet at the water tower at the end of Reservoir Avenue in Port Jervis. For more information, contact Hendry at jamesmhendry77@gmail.com.

The Outdoor Club of Port Jervis has met twice thus far, with twice as many attendees at the second meeting as at the first.  “They were more or less brainstorming sessions,” Hendry said. We are just a group of volunteers right now."

The next meeting will be at 7 p.m. June 8 at the Port Jervis Recreation Center.
