Shippers of "Shamy" will rejoice as their favorite couple decide to spend Thanksgiving together in the upcoming episode of the CBS series "The Big Bang Theory."

In "The Platonic Permutation," CarterMatt reports that Sheldon (Jim Parsons) and Amy (Mayim Bialik) will go out on a date, albeit a friendly one, to visit an aquarium. Last episode, their forays into dating other people did not go as well as planned. Sheldon's date, Vanessa (guest star Analeigh Tipton), could not hold a candle to Amy. The scientist felt in his heart that even though Vanessa was hot, she just was not the girl meant for him. Finishing 30 seconds too late from his Craigslist challenge was also the seal in the coffin.

As for Amy, her third date with Dave (guest star Stephen Merchant) turned from bland to bitter. Apparently, Dave was more interested in Sheldon than her, which was certainly a solid kick in the solar plexus. When he learned that her former boyfriend was the physicist Sheldon Cooper, he flipped out. Dave was a fan and he was ecstatic that he could grill Amy on the whereabouts of Dr. Cooper. For the rest of the night, all he could talk about was his idol, which obviously did not fare well with her.

When Amy called it a night, she ran into Penny (Kaley Cuoco), Leonard (Johnny Galecki), and Bernadette (Melissa Rauch) outside the restaurant. The three had been spying on her and in their haste to make a quick getaway, Bernadette reversed directly into Dave's car. Instead of getting pissed, Dave was over the moon that he got to meet his other hero, Dr. Hofstadter. Now that Sheldon and Amy are both free agents again, they will try to test waters between them by going out. How will this platonic date end?

Also in episode 9, Howard (Simon Helberg) will be asked to volunteer at a soup kitchen by his friends. Elsewhere, Leonard and Penny celebrate their first Thanksgiving as a married couple.

"The Big Bang Theory" airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. EST on CBS.
