This article is more than 10 years old.

As the saying goes, there are many possible reasons for an insider to sell a stock, but only one reason to buy -- they expect to make money. So let's look at two noteworthy recent insider buys.

At CVR Refining Limited Partnership (CVRR), a filing with the SEC revealed that on Thursday, Director Keith Cozza purchased 10,000 shares of CVRR, at a cost of $25.00 each, for a total investment of $250,000. Cvr Refining Limited Partnership is trading up about 0.4% on the day Tuesday. This buy marks the first one filed by Cozza in the past year.

And at USA Compression Partners (USAC), there was insider buying on Friday, by Eric D. Long who purchased 12,500 shares for a cost of $18.00 each, for a total investment of $225,000. This buy marks the first one filed by Long in the past year.   USA Compression Partners, LP is trading off about 0.4% on the day Tuesday. Investors can snag USAC even cheaper than Long  did, with shares trading as low as $17.30 in trading on Tuesday -- that's 3.9% below Long's purchase price.
