Police were searching Monday for the gunmen who shot and injured a Jack in the Box employee during a robbery in the San Fernando Valley and fled the scene without any money.

The robbery occurred in the drive-thru at a Jack in the Box at 20840 Roscoe Blvd., on the border of the Canoga Park and Winnetka neighborhoods (map), around 11:05 p.m. Sunday, Los Angeles Police Department Sgt. Stewart said.

Two men pulled into the drive-thru and demanded money, prompting the employee to begin emptying the cash register.

The employee was then shot once and the gunmen fled the scene without any money, Stewart said.

Video of the scene showed the employee awake and on a stretcher as Los Angeles Fire Department personnel put him into the back of an ambulance. He appeared to have bandages wrapped around his lower abdomen.

The victim was then transported to a local hospital where he underwent surgery. He was expected to survive.

The robbers were described as two white or Hispanic men driving a black Nissan sedan, Stewart said.
