VINELAND -- Two high school students were recognized by the Vineland Board of Education for their recent participation in the Top Tech Challenge at Universal Technical Institute.
Vineland High School seniors Daniel Sakhan and Ariel Mendez placed second in the competition.
They competed against high schools and vocational schools from Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware at Universal Technical Institute in Exton, Pennsylvania, last January.
"I'd like to thank them both for their hard work and recognize them this evening," said Louis Bramante, auto instructor at Vineland High School, during the board of education's meeting on March 4.
At the event, the students competed in diagnostic procedures and electrical troubleshooting.
For their second-place victory, the students were awarded a $1,000 voucher for tools. Bramante also received a $1,500 voucher, which he gave to the school district.
A second team of Vineland High School students -- David Sakhan and Christopher Spinelli -- also competed at the event.
