The University City District has named the following board members: Jamie Gauthier, executive director of the Sustainable Business Network and president of the Garden Court Community Association; Tom Klaritch, executive vice president of HCP; Mark Mills, president of the Metropolis Group; Joe Reagan, vice president-development at Wexford Science & Technologies; Joe Ritchie, vice president of development at Brandywine Realty Trust; and Joe Vitali, vice president of finance and administration at the University of the Sciences.

PenTrans, Philadelphia, a nonprofit that advocates for transportation alternatives, has named the following board members: Richard Bickel, senior adviser with Econsult Solutions; Herman Lloyd, vice president at Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson; Mark Stout, president of Mark L. Stout Consulting; Alanna Strohecker, project manager at AECOM; and Megan Syrnick, president of WTS Philadelphia.

Mayor Nutter has named Ned Dunham to the Building Safety Oversight Board, which will make decisions about immediate and long-term actions necessary for the City of Philadelphia to implement recommendations in the report from the Mayor's Special Independent Advisory Commission, "Safety First and Foremost." Dunham is of counsel and a member of Kleinbard L.L.C.'s litigation department. He also served as chief of staff of the Special Independent Advisory Commission established to review and evaluate the Department of Licenses and Inspections.

Villanova University has elected Paul A. Tufano chair of its board of trustees. He is chairman and CEO of the AmeriHealth Caritas Family of Companies. Tufano succeeds Catherine M. Keating. Joseph V. Topper Jr., CEO and president of CrossAmerica Partners L.L.P., has been elected vice chair. The Rev. Joseph L. Narog, pastor at St. Thomas of Villanova Parish, has been named secretary.

Babette Pace has been named 2015 membership director at Women in eDiscovery (WiE), an organization providing its members with educational opportunities regarding technology in the legal industry. She is a paralegal for the City of Philadelphia in the code-enforcement unit of the Department of Licenses and Inspections.

Vadium, a Seattle provider of digital privacy, security, and trust solutions, has named Phil Laverson to its board. Laverson has served as portfolio manager, equity analyst, and investment manager at various hedge funds, private equity, and investment-management firms, including Eaton Vance and Merrill Lynch Investment Managers, which BlackRock acquired.

Penn Mutual Life Insurance Co., Horsham, has elected James S. Hunt to its board. He retired as executive vice president and CFO with Walt Disney Parks & Resorts Worldwide.

Dress for Success Philadelphia, a nonprofit dedicated to the economic independence of women, has appointed Patricia Stranahan to its board. She is the retired president of the United Board for Christian Higher Education in Asia and senior consultant to the American Council of Learned Societies, both in New York.
