China dominates the latest Forbes Asia Fabulous 50 list with 25 firms from the country being part of it, while its neighbour India follows with 10 companies.

The prestigious list, released on 23 July, includes four South Korean firms, while the Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore have two each and Taiwan, Japan and Indonesia one each.

China dominance

China now has 25 firms listed among Asia's best big publicly traded companies, compared to 16 in 2014. Internet major Tencent Holdings is the highest-valued in the 50-strong list at $180.1bn (£115.5bn, €164.2bn), while search provider Baidu comes in at number three with a market capitalisation of $52.2bn.

PC and mobile phone maker Lenovo Group has the highest sales in the group at $46.3bn, while China-based Gree Electric Appliances which generated $22.7bn in sales is the third highest in the group.

Other prominent Chinese firms on the list include Beijing Dbn Technology Group, China Fortune Land Development, China Hongqiao Group, Coolpad Group, Goertek and Great Wall Motor.

HDFC – Fab 50′s brightest star from India

The Fab 50′s brightest star over the decade is India's HDFC Bank. Having started operations in 2006, the Indian private-sector bank entered the list nine times, more than any other company.

The bank now has a market capitalisation of $43.2bn and annual sales of $9.8bn for the fiscal year ended on 31 March. The second-largest bank in India's private sector also boasts nearly 32 million customers and a network spanning more than 4,000 branches in almost 2,500 towns and cities.

India's Tata Consultancy Services has the second-biggest market capitalisation in the group at $76.3bn, while another Tata subsidiary, Tata Motors, has the second-highest sales at $42.6bn.

Other Indian companies that find spots in the list are Aurobindo Pharma, HCL Technologies, Lupin, Motherson Sumi Systems, Sun Pharma Industries, Tech Mahindra and Titan.
