Rep. Mike Quigley said Wednesday there needs to be an independent commission and prosecutor in the investigation of the Trump campaign’s ties to Russia.

“We absolutely need an independent commission and an independent prosecutor,” the Illinois Democrat said on CNN.

Mr. Quigley, a member of the House Intelligence Committee, pushed back against the idea that his committee was “tainted,” saying it was “obstructed” earlier this year, but that it’s still ongoing.

The House investigation went through controversy last month with Republican Rep. Devin Nunes revealing some of the findings of the committee to the White House without briefing the committee or his Democratic counterpart Rep. Adam Schiff.

Mr. Nunes was forced to step aside as leader of the committee in wake of the scandal.
