A 20-year-old who died after being taken ill at a music festival has been named.

Devastated pals have paid tribute to Tommy Bakeer, who had decided at the last moment to attend Mutiny Festival in Portsmouth.

He died in hospital last night, and his death - and that of 18-year-old Georgia Jones - prompted festival organisers to cancel today's performances.

Bosses warned of a "dangerous high strength or bad batch substance on site". There were another 13 taken to hospital from the festival in one night.

Tommy, from Portsmouth, was found collapsed at around 7.30pm, and medics were unable to save his life.

Friend Jake Ashby wrote on Facebook : "Rip Tommy George Bakeer you will be missed by a lot of people we had so many memories buddy."

And Billy Taylor, who posted an image of Tommy's young son, wrote: "Still haven’t come to terms with last night. It’s unbelievable how quickly life can just be flipped on its head.

"Truly honoured that you gave me the opportunity the be the godfather to this bundle of joy.

"Hurts to know that you won’t be able to see him grow up to be a man. but I’ll always be here to help him become the best man he can be."

No cause of death has been given, but in the aftermath bosses at the festival released a warning about a "dangerous high strength or bad batch substance on site".

The opening day was headlined by UK rapper Dizzee Rascal.

Investigators say the deaths are not being treated as suspicious.

Today flowers were left at the festival site in tribute to the two young people.

A statement from the festival said: "Following the terrible news from earlier today, the team behind Mutiny Festival are incredibly sad to announce that the Sunday of the festival has been cancelled as a safety precaution.

"The safety of our amazing customers has always been paramount to us and so to keep everyone safe and in respect to those who have passed, we have taken the decision not to open today.

"As you can imagine, this decision was not taken lightly and was taken with the support of the local statutory authorities who we continue to work with.

"Enquiries are being made into the circumstances of what has happened, but we must reiterate our advice to all our customers to responsibly dispose of any substances."

In a further message posted on social media after the pair were taken ill, organisers warned of a dangerous substance circulating on site and urged revellers not to take anything.

It said: "Festival family - we are aware of a dangerous high strength or bad batch substance on site.

"We strongly urge you not to take any substances whatsoever and report any symptoms of illness/discomfort immediately to medical, welfare, security or the safeguarding team."

A spokeswoman for Queen Alexandra Hospital, where the pair died, said it is believed they were admitted after falling ill from the effects of drugs.

Another person remains in a critical condition.

A further 12 concertgoers attended the hospital yesterday after being at the festival, but they were "not necessarily all drugs-related", she said.

Police have appealed for anyone with information to come forward.

The force said: "At 7.10pm on Saturday 26 May, we were informed that an 18-year-old woman had fallen ill at the festival site in King George V Playing Fields, Cosham.

"The woman was taken to Queen Alexandra Hospital where she later died.
