It is claimed that Sunderland are looking for almost four times that amount to part with the England international, despite their relegation to the Championship.

But it appears Everton could have an alternative lined up in the shape of Pickford’s national team colleague Forster, who was signed by Toffees boss Ronald Koeman at Southampton.

Everton are 2/1 to sign the 29-year-old before 3 September this year, with Arsenal [8/1], Liverpool [14/1], Newcastle United [18/1] and Manchester City [20/1] the other contenders.

And while the Merseyside club remain 8/11 favourites for Pickford, their Forster odds suggest they won’t be afraid to walk away.

Which of the Sunderland and Southampton pair would make the better Everton signing?
