SWAT Standoff Ends With No Major Injuries, Man Arrested

The incident, which lasted over five hours between a car chase and standoff, ended without major injury to anybody.

HUFSMITH, TX β€” A gunfight and SWAT standoff resulted in a man being arrested in Hufsmith, according to reports. The Thursday gunfight happened when the man was pulled over but made his way to the garage of a model home in the 2500 block of Pinyon Trail where he barricaded himself.

The man showed a handgun and fired at troopers, Chron.com reports police as saying. Police then called the Harris County Sheriff's Office for backup.

SWAT police showed up in the standoff, Chron.com reported, which ended at 4:30 a.m. Thursday.

Major Marcus Kinnard-Bing of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office said the man was "basically speaking nonsense," Chron.com reported, and said he didn't want to go back to jail.

SWAT police were eventually able to hit the suspect in the stomach with a bean bag gun, and he eventually gave up. No police were hurt in the incident.
