A Missouri man was killed Saturday in Osage County after being struck by a vehicle that left the road due to icy conditions.

The incident was reported to the Kansas Highway Patrol at 5:45 p.m. Saturday on Interstate 35, about 2.2 miles east of South Paulen Road.

Adam Balentine, 35, of Judsonia, Ark., and Robert Groh, 49, of Raymore, Mo., had legally parked a 2005 Ford E150 in the median and exited the vehicle.

Taylor Walker, 24, was driving a 2001 Saturn SL southbound when he encountered ice and left the road, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol. He struck the Ford and the two men. Groh was transported to an Ottawa hospital where he died. Balentine was transported to Coffee County Hospital with possible injuries.

Walker and his passenger, Jeffrey Butler, 47, of San Diego, weren't injured, KHP said.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
