GAYLORD — Now through Dec. 22, shoppers at the Gaylord Area Council for the Arts (GACA) Art Center, 125 E. Main St., have the opportunity to purchase one-of-a-kind holiday gifts crafted by local artists at the annual Holiday Art Market exhibit.

Holiday shoppers can choose from hand crafted paintings, photographs, jewelry, stained glass Christmas ornaments, pottery, woodcarvings, journals and crafts.

Art Center hours are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and noon to 1 p.m. Saturdays.

Upcoming workshops, events and programs at the Art Center

• Creative Crowd group: Thursdays between 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Work on any type of art or craft project of your choice at the Art Center while socializing and gaining inspiration from fellow artists. Bring your own supplies and a lunch.

• Black and White and a Little Red exhibit: Jan. 9 through March 1. Artist reception is from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9.

• 100-day project: Jan. 20 through April 30.

• Winter music jams: Every Sunday starting Jan. 13 from 3 to 5 p.m. Musicians of all skill levels are invited to learn and network with other musicians. Bring your own instrument and music. Free.

• Watercolor workshop: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15. Instructor is Carlene Lagrou. Cost is $30 for GACA members and $35 for non-members. All skill levels are welcome to attend. Bring your own supplies.

• Funday Mondays: Every Monday starting Jan. 21 at 10 a.m. All supplies provided. Cost is $5 per workshop. Try your hand at a new art or craft. A different technique is explored each week.

Children’s art programs

• After school artists: Monday’s from 3:30 to 4:40 p.m. through Feb. 25. Ages third-grade and older. All skill levels, all supplies provided. Fee is $10 per class or $50 for six classes.

• Kids second Saturday arts and crafts: Noon to 2 p.m. each second Saturday of each month, through February. Drop in any time during the session, as projects take 20 to 30 minutes to complete. Parents should plan on staying with child until project is completed. Free for all school-aged children. No registration necessary. The Jan. 12 project is “Irresistible Snowmen.”

• Teen art workshops: 6 to 7:30 p.m., Jan. 14 and Feb. 11. Free for teens in grades 7 through 12. All supplies provided. All skill levels welcome. No registration necessary. The Jan. 14 project is acrylic paint pouring.
