The Bob Kendall Band, American Beauties, and The Big Lonesome

On Saturday May 4, Sally O'Brien's Bar presents a three-band bill including The Bob Kendall Band, American Beauties, and The Big Lonesome.

Currently residing in Rhode Island, Bob Kendall isn't new to the Boston musical landscape having played in many popular local bands including Lifeboat, The Blood Oranges, and The Brother's Kendall.  The Noise-Boston describes his band's latest release "Midnight Flower" as a record where "Americana and British Invasion come together."  With a haunting guest vocal appearance on the title track from Tanya Donelly, this collection of beautifully written, performed, and recorded songs makes Midnight Flower one of the best local releases of 2012.  His talented band will bring these songs to you live in a rare Boston appearance next Saturday.

American Beauties is an all-original indie folk-rock band based in Somerville who play music reminscent of the west coast folk-rock bands of the late 60's and early 70's.  Their recently released debut album "Too Worn To Mend" has received considerable airplay on college, independient, and internet radio around the US, UK, and Canada.  The music mixes elements of pop, Americana, folk, and rock highlighted by guitar driven melodies and layered harmony vocals.

The Big Lonesome is an indie band from the South Shore of Massachusetts who play original compositions rooted in Americana and alt-country.  The band of brothers Chad (guitar and lead vocals) and Luke (lead/slide guitar, vocals) Gosselin and bassist/vocalist Joe Ziemba are well on their way to making some local noise and will wrap-up their New England tour at Sally's on May 4.  The band is working on their debut EP, which will include songs the band has been honing on their recent tour.

American Beauties will open the show @ 9:00 PM, followed by The Bob Kendall Band @ 10:15 PM and The Big Lonesome @ 11:30.  All told, this three-band bill is a can't miss event.  Sally O'Brien's is a very welcoming neighborhood bar with great food and drink located in the thriving live music destination of Union Square, Somerville.  There is No Cover Charge for this event.
