Akiak man faces charges for alleged death threats toward Troopers

Alaska State Troopers investigating a domestic violence situation in Akiak allegedly received death threats from a man living in the village.

According to the AST daily dispatch log, 44-year-old Richard Ivan is facing multiple charges for assault on a law enforcement officer and misconduct involving weapons.Troopers contacted Ivan at a neighboring home form the reported location of the investigation.

Troopers wrote, Ivan went into his home before coming back out with a 12-gauge shotgun. “Richard was upset that AST was in the village ‘trespassing’ and repeatedly threatened to kill the two troopers while they were talking with his neighbor.”

Ivan was later arrested.
