Vegetation Fire Erupts Near Santa Clara Golf Course

The fire was initially reported as being near Keeler Court and Santa Teresa Boulevard.

SAN JOSE, CA -- Firefighters extinguished a 16-acre, three-alarm vegetation fire on the side of a hill above the Santa Teresa Golf Course in San Jose Sunday, a fire captain said.

The fire was initially reported as being near Keeler Court and Santa Teresa Boulevard, Capt. Mitchell Matlow said, but when firefighters arrived at 5 p.m., it turned out to be mid-slope on a hillside.

Cal Fire personnel and aircraft fought the fire along with crews from the San Jose Fire Department, dropping fire retardant to halt the fire's spread, Matlow said.
