John Milton Jones, of Chattanooga, died Friday evening, Aug. 11, 2006, at Life Care Center of Collegedale. He was 99 years old.

Mr. Jones was a member of Hickory Valley Christian Church and the S.J. Woodard Sunday School Class. He served in the U.S. Army from 1934 to 1937. He was employed with and retired from Jewell Tea Company.

Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his first wife, Nana Lee Cox Jones; and his second wife, Mary Rankin Jones.

He is survived by his daughters, Judy and Charles Vandergriff, of Ooltewah, Margie Winsted, of Chattanooga; grandchildren, Lauren and Staff Sgt. Ben Faczan, Jeff and Giselle Vandergriff, Meredith and Fred Perry, and Jeremy Winsted; his great-grandchildren, Ashley Riden, Joshlyne Vandergriff, Stacey Perry, Jordan Perry and Tyler Perry.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday in the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with the Rev. Dale Lovelady officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Cemetery.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the S.J. Woodard Sunday School Class.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Sunday and again from 1 p.m. to service time on Monday at the funeral home.

Arrangements are by the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home Crematory and Florist, 404 S. Moore Road.
