Norma Goss George, 90, of Daleville, Va., went to be with her Lord and Savior Thursday, March 15, 2018. Norma was born July 11, 1927, in Trafford, and lived in Botetourt County, Va., since 1993. She was the daughter of the late Paul and Laura Henderson Goss. Norma and her husband of 61 years, Kenneth R. George Sr., were members of the Bonsack United Methodist Church of Roanoke, Va., where they sang in the choir. They were also involved in the Emmaus Community. In addition to being an avid reader, she loved being outside and enjoying the beauty of nature. She liked identifying wildflowers and birds, and a field guide and binoculars were always close at hand. Norma and "Kenny" were golfers and traveled widely in the United States and abroad. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth R. George Sr.; and her sisters, June Richardson and Patty Varsafsky. Norma is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Kenneth and Denise George, of Fincastle, Va., Douglas and Kay George, of Eagle Rock, Va., and Harold George, of Roanoke, Va.; daughter and son-in-law Marilyn and Scott Duncan, of Nellysford, Va.; grandchildren, Derek George, of Troutville, Va., and Kathryn Huntington, of Duluth, Ga.
A memorial service honoring Norma's life will take place at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, at The Glebe Botetourt Room, 200 Glebe Boulevard, Daleville, Va. A celebration of Norma's life will be held in Pittsburgh at a later date.
