Dining out: Schaumburg's revamped Beerhead hosts grand opening Thursday

The refreshed Beerhead Bar & Eatery, formerly known as The Beer Market, is hosting a grand opening event on Thursday, July 12, to show off the restaurant's new decor and revamped food and drinks menu. The party will feature free appetizers - Barbarian pretzels, chicken wings, pizzas and dog daze - from 4 to 6 p.m. and Gina Gonzalez will perform at 6 p.m. Plus, there will be beer specials on tap all day including Two Brothers Bare Tree, Noon Whistle Barrel Aged Bob Ross Did It, 3 Floyds Zombie Dust, Half Acre Preen, Scorched Earth Mista Dobalina, Wild Onion Vanilla Drago and many more. In addition to Beerhead's nearly 500 brands of beer and other beverages, the new lunch and dinner menu now offers MYO avocado toast, specialty pizzas, the signature Barbarian Pretzel and desserts. Bastille Day bonanza

French bistro Mon Ami Gabi toasts France's national holiday, Bastille Day, with special menu items Thursday, July 12, through Wednesday, July 18. On the menu, diners will find classic Vichyssoise (chilled potato and leek soup with chives) for $8.95, ahi tuna Niçoise with tapenade vinaigrette for $23.95, seafood bouillabaisse with garlic rouille for $36.95 and tricolor profiteroles filled with blueberry sorbet and vanilla and strawberry ice cream for $9.95. Mission BBQ, a fast casual restaurant chain that pays tribute to military, police and fire personnel, is opening its second Illinois location in Gurnee Monday, July 16. Mission BBQ serves ribs, brisket, pulled pork, sausage, pulled chicken, Maggie's mac-n-cheese, baked beans with brisket, seasonal sides, sweets and more. The restaurant is hosting a pre-opening Military Appreciation Night from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, July 13, that is open to the public and will benefit the USO. Wildfire Craft Beer dinner

Get a taste of Wildfire's own Wildfire Craft Beer Co. brews during its July beer dinner at 6:30 p.m. Monday, July 16, in Oak Brook. Taste a custom four-course menu while listening to guest speaker Phil Stubstad, Wildfire's Craft Brewer, discuss the pairings. The reception features passed appetizers such as summer market vegetable empanadas and ginger-glazed calamari paired with Higgins Hefeweizen at 6:30 p.m., followed by the seated dinner at 7. First course pairs chicken scallopine with Belgian Tripel and the main course pairs garlic-herb marinated beef tenderloin skewer and shrimp risotto with Sheridan Irish Red Ale.
