A 35-year-old man has been charged with rape following an alleged attack in Sheerness town centre.

Ansra Muhmud is due to appear before Medway magistrates by videolink later today.

The Sheerness High Street resident is accused of attacking a woman in her 20s in the Victory Street area between 1.30am and 3am on Sunday.

Throughout Monday, police forensics officers were seen working in the True Briton Alley.

Two other men, aged 27 and 31, were also arrested on Monday but have been released without charge.
