Colts tackle Braden Smith married longtime girlfriend in South Carolina

Indianapolis Colts right tackle Braden Smith will head into his second year in the NFL as a newly-married man.

Smith recently tied the knot with fiancee Courtney Shea-Smith at Montage Palmetto Bluff in Bluffton, South Carolina.

Smith shared a photo from his wedding to his Instagram account Sunday.

"These last two weeks Courtney and I have taken a big step forward in our lives," reads the caption. "One thing is for sure, it’s only the beginning of something truly special and as we continue forward we will only add so many more amazing memories and stories to our lives! Wouldn’t want to do it with anyone else."

Mr. and Mrs. Smith met while students at Auburn.

Braden Smith enrolled at Auburn as a highly-rated guard prospect. He was also an accomplished shot put and discus thrower and weight lifter during his prep career in Kansas at Olathe South High School.

Smith appeared in 13 games as freshman, seeing time at tight end and tackle in jumbo packages. He settled in at right guard as a sophomore while starting one game at tackle.

He finished his college career primarily as a guard. The Colts selected him with the 37th pick in the second round in last year's draft. Injuries forced Smith back out to tackle, where he eventually settled in, making 13 starts in 15 games.

Courtney Shea-Smith is a stellar athlete as well. She was a four-year starter for the Auburn softball team, splitting time between catcher and designated player duties.

Her final season with the Tigers was her best. She started all 55 games, finishing with a .292 average, five home runs and a team-high 10 doubles.

She's now the owner of ninety-three photo, a Carmel-based photography and video company.

Cheers to the newly married couple!
