Edgerrin James thinks he should be a ‘no-brainer’ for Hall of Fame

Edgerrin James thinks he should be a “no-brainer” for the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and he’s right.

James on Tuesday was named a finalist for the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2018. It’s the second time in his career that he’s been a finalist for the Hall, and he’s now in his fourth year on the ballot.

James told FOX 59 in Indy’s Mike Chappell that he’s not going to politic for votes because he thinks his resume speaks for itself.

“Oh, yeah,’’ he said. “If I sit back and look at it, I think it’s plain as day. It’s a no-brainer.

“You’re talking about a true running back that did it all. When you say, ‘What is a running back? What are his responsibilities? Did he do it all at a high level?’ I did every one of those.”

Edge started off his career with consecutive 1,500-plus yard seasons as a rusher. He led the league in rushing both seasons. He scored 91 career touchdowns, made four Pro Bowls, and rushed for over 12,000 yards (13th on the all-time list).

The former Indianapolis Colts star will probably get into the Hall at some point. There may just be a few higher-priority ex-players who make it first, which would lead to somewhat of a waiting process.
