PATNA: Budding entrepreneurs of the city were advised to check the technical, social and economic feasibility of start-ups to minimize the risks before investing in any idea, at the two-day National Student Conclave (NSC) 2014 which kicked off on Birla Institute of Technology (BIT)-Patna campus on Saturday.
State chief secretary Ashok Kumar Sinha was the chief guest. He said such events would help usher a scientific revolution in the state and congratulated the institutions for organizing the event.
Several papers, research articles and models were also presented during the technical sessions held on the first day of the event.
Speaking on the occasion, BITP director S L Gupta said the conclave was a platform for the hidden talents to come upfront. Stressing on business simulation, Gupta said, "Simulation is the imitation of the operation of a real-world process or system that will help in drawing inferences concerning the functional characteristics of the real system." He also stressed on strategic planning and management system used extensively in business and industry, government and non-profit organizations worldwide.
State planning and development department principal secretary Vijoy Prakash, who was also present on the occasion, advised the students to thoroughly evaluate their business plans before starting.
Co-organizers of the event were Admerit College, whose director Anupam Singh said, "For years the basic learning methodology of students has been that of rote learning. Our aim is to make this conclave a platform for inculcating research-oriented learning among students." Intermediate students also presented posters on 'Challenges of new millennium'. Students will present their business plans, case studies and an academia-industry interaction is also scheduled to be held on the concluding day on Sunday.
Karate grading: Eighty students of Bihar Bal Bhawan 'Kilkari' passed the karate belt grading test held on Saturday. While Neha Rastogi received a Black Belt of 2nd Dan, Rahul, Ajit and Karan won the Black Belt of 1st Dan. Kilkari director Jyoti Parihar congratulated the students.
