WINNEBAGO COUNTY, Ill. (WIFR) -- The Pecatonica River in Winnebago County is closed due to high water, according to the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.

The river is predicted to crest at 14.9 feet on Saturday.

The Rock River is still open, but it is under a no-wake order. It is expected to crest at 13.9 feet in Rockton on Thursday and 13.9 feet at Latham Park on Tuesday. Flood stage in those areas is only 10 feet.

Authorities recommend not using the Rock River right now because there may be even more rain that causes the river to rise.

The Village of Machesney Park has sandbagging equipment available at the Machesney Park Town Center (southwest lot), 8750 North 2nd Street.

The Sheriff’s Office is keeping an eye on the Kishwaukee River too. They say it has caused some flooding, but most of it doesn’t threaten homes.
