Cheers to DC Beer Week: Deals, Events and More

It's DC Beer Week! 

The weeklong toast to beer began Sunday, Aug. 19 and runs through Sunday, Aug. 26. 

Breweries, restaurants and bars in the D.C. area are serving all types of craft beer as part of the 10th annual event. You can go to beer yoga, and get a beer float. 

Here’s a roundup of events and deals throughout the week to check out.

Monday, Aug. 20

Joggers & Lagers

If you want to really show off your excitement for DC Beer Week, join the late night fun run with Joggers & Lagers from Pacers Running and Port City Brewing in Alexandria, Virginia. Starting at 7 p.m. run either a 1-mile, 3-mile or 5-mile fun run along Holmes Run and then celebrate your achievement in the Port City Tasting room.

Atlas Satellite Tap Room in City Tap Penn Quarter

City Tap Penn Quarter in Northwest is hosting a collection of craft beers from the solar-powered Atlas Brew Works. Enjoy happy hour specials from 5 to 10 p.m. with limited-edition Atlas beers.

The Veil Brewery Showcase

Visit the Sovereign in Georgetown from 5 to 11 p.m. for a special showcase of 10 craft beers from The Veil Brewery in Richmond. From raspberry-crafted beers to aged beers, this showcase is for a variety of beer lovers.

A Beer and Bite Back for a Night

Right Proper Shaw Brewpup is going through the Smithsonian’s American history archives for a historic lesson in beer. The Shaw neighborhood brewery hosting a tasting from 6 to 9 p.m. of “a lager that hasn’t been brewed in 78 years.” Check out the panel of historians discussing the historic origins of beer while you enjoy the drinks and food. Admission costs $22.

Dino’s Grotto

Stop by Dino’s Grotto in the U Street corridor for all-night happy hour on Monday. There’s a variety of food to pair with their $4 beers on tap like their $5 bar snacks such as dips or Italian grilled cheese sandwiches or their kilo of mussels for $10.

Denizens Brewing Co All Day Happy Hour

Check out all-day happy hour at Denizens Brewing Co in Silver Spring, Maryland. Sip on a variety of $5 beers or their $10 burgers in their beer garden from 4 to 11 p.m.

Tuesday, Aug. 21

The Art of Beer

Ever wonder how local breweries like 3 Star Brewery or DC Brau came up with their logos? The Heurich House Museum in Dupont Circle is holding a panel from 6 to 8 p.m. with the artists behind the logos as part of their “The Art of Beer” exhibition. Attendees can taste the featured beers and snacks. Admission costs $15 and includes drinks and snacks. The exhibition will run until Sept. 29.

Brixton

The Brixton on U Street has happy hour from 5 to 7:30 p.m., where you can get $4 Miller Lite Tallboys and $2 off any draft beers. Check out their $6 basket of wings or their $7 pair of sliders.

Duplex Diner

Duplex Diner on 18th Street hosts beer and burger night every Tuesday, where you can get $4 domestic beers and half off their burgers.

Beer Yoga

Bring your yoga mat and challenge your balance in this beer yoga class hosted by Port City Brewery in Alexandria, Virginia. Start your class at 7 p.m. and continue your relaxation with a pint at the tasting room until 9 p.m. Admission is $20.

ChurchKey

ChurchKey, located near Logan Circle, is turning over 55 of their taps to local craft beers from 5:30 to 10 p.m. Check out the variety of beers, along with a five-course menu. Beers are priced individually by the glass in 4 oz. pours.

Battle of the Barrel Aged

For anyone who is a fan of aged beer, here’s your chance to decide which aged beer is the best among local competitors such as DC Brau, Atlas Brew Works, 3 Stars and Right Proper. Stop by Boundary Stone House on Rhode Island Avenue from 5 to 10 p.m. for this fierce competition.

Wednesday, Aug. 22

Dacha Beer Challenge

Are you up for the challenge at Dacha Beer Garden? Check out three fall-to-winter brews and $7 flights to see which beer should be featured in the fall lineup at the Shaw beer garden. Play games and grab some swag while you vote for the best beer.

Thunderdome

Bring your friends to The Eleanor on Florida Avenue and get your game on with an arcade triathalon! Play Skee Ball, Pac-Man and bowling and win free drinks from 5 to 11 p.m. The winner with the highest score faces off in a Mortal Kombat death match and could win a trophy and a belt. Check out the variety of DC Brau beers and Jameson and hang out with the brewers.

Devils Backbone at Blackfinn American Grill

Devils Backbone is taking over the taps at Blackfinn American Grill near Farragut Square from 5 to 8 p.m. Check out the lagers and the limited-edition Revenge of the Mariner from Rosedale, Virginia.

Aslin Beer Company at The Partisan

Check out the taps at The Partisan in Penn Quarter after 5 p.m. as Aslin Beer Company is bringing a dozen beers. The Herndon, Virginia, brewery is bringing an eclectic mix of beers from fruity-crafted beers to a chocolate-crafted beer.

New Maryland Breweries and Brew Pubs

If you need an update on what’s been brewing in Maryland recently, come to Meridian Pint on 11th Street at 5 p.m. and check out the showcase of new breweries and brew pubs from Maryland.

Thursday, Aug. 23

Beers and Brats

Stop by Denizens Brewing Company in Silver Spring, Maryland from 4 to 11 p.m. and grab bratwurst with a pint for $15. A dollar from each purchase is donated to the DC Brewers Guild.

Sauf Haus Full Tasting Flights

Sauf Haus on 18th Street will give a free tasting flight to anyone who posts a beer photo to Instagram and tags @SaufHausDC and #BeerWeekDC. You must follow @SaufHausDC on Instagram to be eligible. The bartender will check your Instagram for your post as well.

Cornhole Tournament

Drink six DC Brau drafts and have your team of two battle in this cornhole tournament at Moreland’s Tavern from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. on 14th Street. Admission costs $30 per team.

Battle of the Bands

Rock out at Boundary Stone on Rhode Island Avenue, where the restaurant is hosting a Battle the Bands with music-themed beers. For more information on how to enter the contest, click here.

Friday, Aug. 24

DC Brau Shrimp Boil

Enjoy this shrimp boil at Brookland Pint in Northeast from 5 to 11 p.m. and drink a trio of beers released just for DC Beer Week.

Crabs and Beer

Crack those crab shells open and drink beers from Devils Backbone at Bier Baron Tavern from 4 p.m. until midnight. Learn about how Devils Backbone is supporting the Chesapeake Bay Foundation with Devils Backbone representatives.

Smoked Prime Rib Night

Check out craft beers from 3 Star while you can bite into smoked prime ribs at Smoke and Barrel at 18th Street from 5 to 11 p.m.

Saturday Aug. 25

Brunch and Flights

Enjoy a three-course brunch at Brookland’s Finest in 12th Street with three specialty DC Brau beers from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tickets are $35.

Ice Cream Beer Floats

Looking for a sweet treat? Pizza Paradiso in Georgetown has ice cream beer floats made with local craft beers from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Pig Roast at Fireworks Pizza

Fireworks Pizza in Arlington, Virginia is celebrating their eighth anniversary with a pig roast, live music, street corn and many more activities. Stop by in the afternoon and drink from the DC Brewer’s Guild collaboration.

Brewers on the Block

Visit Suburbia at Union Market and check out over 20 breweries from the region from 6 to 9 p.m.

Sunday, Aug. 26

Record Fair

Right Proper is hosting a record fair at their production facility on Girard Street from 12 to 5 p.m. Shop for your favorite records, tie-dye T-shirts and snack on some dumplings.

Art and Ales

Check out the art at DC Draft House on 13th Street and jam out with the DJ. Drink from Port City while you check out art from 4 to 9 p.m. All the art featured is available to purchase.

Pizza and Pints

Grab pizza and a pint for $10 at Glen’s Garden Market on S Street as DC Beer Week comes to a close.
