The Mid-Minnesota USBC Association will be hosting its Hall of Fame banquet on Oct. 13 at the Sauk Rapids VFW. The social hour is from 6-7 p.m. with dinner at 7 p.m.

Inductees are Sue Colgrove and Pete Reuter for Meritorious Service; Denise Czech-Schwandt and Marty Malinen for Superior Performance; and Bernie Schmitt, Sr. in the Pioneer category.

Sue Colgrove has been on the board for many years and also a league secretary for many years. Sue also has run the Women's Association Tournament. Pete Reuter has been president and a longtime board member, and to me the most important, he was in charge of the Juniors at Southway Bowl.

Denise Czech-Schwandt has been one of the top women's bowlers the past few years. Marty Malinen, my former teammate, could have also made it in Meritorious Service. Marty has been behind the senior tournaments in the area and has held his own on the lanes for over 40 years.

Bernie Schmitt was a good bowler back in the old lacquer lanes era. He also worked at the Granite Bowl for many years and also rolled a 300 game in the 600-700 tournament at the Granite Bowl.

Plan to attend; I am sure there will be many more stories. The cost to attend is $20 per ticket and must be purchased by Oct. 6 from a board member of the Mid-MN. You can find them on the website midmnusbc.org or contact me and I will get you tickets.

State Hall of Fame

The Minnesota State USBC Association inductions will be held at Grand Casino Hinckley on March 23. Nominees for Superior Performance are Scott Pohl, Burnsville and Dawn Sim, Hugo.

For Meritorious Service, Duane McVenes, Mankato, and Sherri Hoheisel, Pierz are the nominees. Sherri has been president of the Association and has run the Women's State Tournament.
