Laura Pausini is expected to draw crowds of local Italian music lovers to Luxol Grounds in Pembroke on 21 July. This was announced during a news conference held by NnG Promotions Ltd in Valletta yesterday.

The famous singer will perform in Malta as part of her tour set to promote her latest album, Invece No. Her current indoor tour is reaching its end and her outdoor and stadiums tour will start in a month’s time. She is expected to sing a selection of her world famous songs as well as some of her new interpretations, although the actual song line-up has not been confirmed yet.

“Laura Pausini has a heavy following and substantial fan base in Malta. Her last album, released last November was received by rave reviews and immediately shot up in the top hit lists. We are pleased to be the ones to be bringing this singer to Malta”, said NnG representative Nigel Camilleri. NnG have already sold a substantial number of tickets through an early offer on their website.

Laura Pausini will take the stage in Luxol Grounds two days after Joseph Calleja and Michael Bolton perform together. The two concerts will hit a diversity of music genres. The Calleja and Bolton concert is a one of a kind event, expected to bring together classical and pop music with a unique repertoire of well-known pieces. On the other hand, Laura Pausini is sure to attract thousands of Maltese with a passion for the Italian music scene. The possibility of having Maltese supporting acts is still being discussed.

Vodafone Malta Limited and General Soft Drinks are supporting Laura Pausini’s concert. Vodafone Malta Chief Executive Officer Inaki Berroeta, said the concert will undoubtedly be a truly memorable event and was delighted to assist in the organisation of such a major event, as Laura Pausini is an icon in the music industry.

Mr Camilleri said that Laura Pausini is the second well-known female artist performing in Malta after Tina Turner. Laura Pausini began her career in 1993 at San Remo festival when she won her first prize in the new artists’ category with the ballad, La Solitudine. Since then she became synonymous for Italian and Latin music across the world. Her first album bearing her name, reached double-platinum sales in Italy and since then Pausini released over 10 albums. She has collaborated with international renowned artists such as Luciano Pavarotti, James Blunt, Andrea Bocelli, Ray Charles, Michael Bublé and Phil Collins who wrote the song Looking for an Angel, especially for her.

Tickets can be purchased online from www.nngpromotions.com or from Agenda Bookshops, Exotique and Vodafone retail outlets. Ticket prices start from EUR35.
