Kaley Cuoco’s ex-husband Ryan Sweeting ‘ruined’ marriage for her

Kaley Cuoco’s first marriage was such a big bust that she almost gave up.

The “Big Bang Theory” star opened up about her wedding to and divorce from tennis player Ryan Sweeting, a short-lived relationship that ended in heartbreak.

Cuoco and Sweeting got engaged in September 2013 after dating for just three months. They tied the knot on New Year’s Eve and separated 19 months later.

A contributing cause to the split was Sweeting’s addiction to painkillers, Us Weekly reported in 2015, a problem that began long before the couple began dating but was renewed due to a back injury he suffered a few months after they met.

“I honestly thought I wouldn’t get married again. My ex ruined that word for me. I married someone the first time who completely changed. The person I ended up with was not the person I originally met. And that wasn’t my fault — that was his,” the 32-year-old actress told Cosmopolitan.

“I knew how much I had to give and how much I wanted to receive. I knew I just had to be patient…I had to go through a lot of things, but it brought me to Karl.”

Karl is Karl Cook, the equestrian who was first linked to Cuoco in March 2016.

The couple got engaged in November, on the actress’ 32nd birthday.

“Well after nearly two years I finally got up the courage to ask her to marry me,” Cook captioned an Instagram video. “This is the best night of my life and I think the video shows it is the best night for Kaley as well.....of she said yes!!!!!”
