WordPress has just enabled the email forward addresses

WordPress has just made it a lot easier for people to use their domain name as email.

WordPress.com has announced it has enabled a new feature for its users, letting them add an email address to their custom domain name. This means, however, that not all users will have access to this feature.

Truthfully, this is only a cosmetic solution since the address will only be used for email forwarding.

Basically, users will be able to create a pretty address name, based on their blog name, for instance. If anyone sends an email to that address, the message will instantly get forwarded to an email account of the user’s choice.

However, this helps bloggers keep up some anonymity when it comes to their personal email address.

Setting up the email address is very easy. If there’s already a custom domain name set up for the blog, individuals can go to Store – Domains in the dashboard.

The new Manage Emails link can be found right next to it. The form is easy to fill out as it only has a few fields to complete.

Users must enter the new email address they want to create in the first field and the destination email address in the second.

Email forwarding from WordPress comes with support of up to five forwarding rules. As the company indicates, users are allowed to create custom email addresses for up to five people, or create up to five custom email addresses to redirect to the same email.

Going for WordPress.com Premium or Business will nix all limitations when it comes to forwarding rules.

The feature has already been enabled for all custom domains on WordPress.com for free. If there’s already a third-party email provider set up for a domain, email forwarding will be disabled.
