10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About "Macho Man" Randy Savage

The "Macho Man" Randy Savage was one of the greatest professional wrestlers in the history of World Wrestling Entertainment. His ability in ring, memorable promos ("Oooooh Yeah!"), charisma and flashy ring attire made him stand out from the pack. He wasn't the biggest, but he was definitely one of the best. If you grew up watching WWE in the mid to late 1980s into the early 1990s then there's a very good chance that you grew up wanting to be like him. He was arguably WWE's second star of that era behind only Hulk Hogan although if you had to compare them in terms of talent, Savage was much better in the ring. He's the guy that people pointed to because he was special. There was a Randy Savage DVD was released by WWE a few weeks ago that provided us with a lot info about his amazing life. The documentary was fantastic. There were plenty of comments from his peers as well as current wrestlers that grew up idolizing him, but the information provided by his brother Lanny Poffo (The Genius) was especially insightful. An interview with Savage from 1993 was also included when necessary, which helped add to the story they were trying to tell. It's a shame that Randy passed away in 2011. According to Hulk Hogan, if he had gone to the doctor to do a simple checkup on his heart maybe he would still be here, which is what Hogan was told by a doctor. When Savage retired from the wrestling business, he completely got away from it. He didn't do a lot of appearances and he didn't wrestle. He's that rare guy that went home, stayed there and was fine being away from the spotlight. Savage's name was in the news last week when Vince McMahon told Steve Austin on WWE Network that it's very likely that Savage will finally be in WWE's Hall of Fame soon. We don't know when, but that news definitely put a smile on the faces of wrestling fans.
