Michael Clarke Duncan death: Omarosa Manigault ‘devastated’

Share

Omarosa Manigault wasn’t the only celebrity reacting to Michael Clarke Duncan’s death — but she was among the most intensely affected, as Duncan was not only her boyfriend but quietly her fiance.

Duncan, who was 54, died Monday at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center after nearly two months of treatment following a heart attack suffered July 13.

Omarosa and the “Green Mile” star were secretly engaged with a wedding set for January, according to TMZ. No investigation into Duncan’s death was planned, the coroner’s office told L.A. Now.

“I am devastated,” the “Apprentice” alum told Radar Online. “He was the love of my life.” They had been dating since 2010.

Omarosa was at Duncan’s bedside for 50 days after he fell ill, a source told People. The couple planned to start a family after they wed, the New York Daily News reported.

TMZ videographers caught a sobbing Omarosa coming back into LAX on Monday night, having traveled to the Tom Joyner Family Reunion event in Orlando, Fla., before Duncan died.

Her brother, Jack Manigault, died last October at age 40, the victim of an apparent lover’s quarrel.

Also torn up was Frank Darabont, who directed Duncan in his breakout role in “The Green Mile,” and shared his thoughts Monday via Ain’t It Cool News.

“I’m devastated at the loss of Michael Clarke Duncan, he said, “one of the finest people I’ve ever had the privilege to work with or know. Michael was the gentlest of souls — an exemplar of decency, integrity, and kindness. The sadness I feel is inexpressible.”

Jon Cryer added a touch of humor, saying over the course of several tweets: “I 1st ‘met’ Michael Clarke Duncan at a charity softball game. When I say ‘met’ I mean he hit a line drive into my crotch. The crotch hit came in handy later when he and I had to sing the theme from ‘Shaft’ a capella on my show. Great guy. Tragic. He will be missed.”
