Minutes from Victoria station and surrounded by cultural and gastronomic hotspots, Eccleston Square is the perfect place to burrow down for a cosy weekend. This property, listed on stylish holiday home rental site the Plum Guide, ticks all the boxes...

Where is it?

The clue is in the name. At the corner of Eccleston Square in Pimlico, a few minutes amble from Victoria station.

The private communal gardens, which you’ll have access to, fill the square, while within easy walking distance sit a clutch of superlative restaurants – including storied Chinese small plates specialist Hunan and Gordon Ramsey’s Michelin-starred Petrus.

Design details

It’s clear you’re in for an aesthetic treat as soon as you enter the foyer, where monochrome wallpaper with raised velvet accenting evokes a palatial feel.

The flat sprawls over two levels: the spacious high-ceilinged living room and kitchen taking up the ground floor with the two bedrooms, each adjoined to a stunning marble bathrooms, accessed via a staircase down to the lower ground floor.

The dark brown woods and leather sofas of the lounge call to mind the languorous comfort of a private member’s club – an ambience heightened by the drinks bar, complete with two very inviting stools. After a tipple (or three) the colossally large couch beckons, perfect for lazy evenings in.

Knickknacks collected by Carolina, the owner, are speckled throughout the home, and it’s fun to trace her many travels through the artefacts adorning each shelf.

Downstairs, both bedrooms and share the living room’s commodious dimensions, featuring king size beds, huge wardrobes and luxury linen.

How many can it sleep?

Four in the bedrooms – potentially around 20 more on the enormous sofa…

What’s nearby?

Stroll 20-minutes east to the banks of the Thames and you’ll reach Tate Britain for your cultural fix, while 20 minutes to the north sits a rather famous abode called Buckingham Palace.

After you’ve called in on her Maj, you could wander through St James’s Park to visit 10 Downing Street; or head back to Eccleston Square through the huge new shops- and cafes-saturated complexes that have sprung up in Victoria over the last 12 months. Whatever route you take homeward, we recommend deviating off it for a quick stop at Rosa’s Thai Cafe.
