Roy Rogers Set to Return to Long Island

The first Long Island Roy Rogers location is expected to open in the fall of 2019.

It's been a long wait for Roy Rogers fans, but the fast food chain is officially returning to Long Island.

Ace reporter David Winzelberg of Long Island Business News broke the news on Wednesday. John and Jeff Froccaro, who own Burger Brothers Restaurant Group, have signed a deal with Roy Rogers to open seven restaurants across the island and in Queens.

The last Roy Rogers on the island in Shirley closed its doors in 2010. In October 2016, Roy Rogers co-president Jim Plamondon told Newsday that the company was "very interested in coming back to Long Island," but cited finding affordable real estate as a challenge.

Burger Brothers already operates three dozen Burger King restaurants and three locations of The Greene Turtle Sports Bar & Grille in the area and is currently implementing another development agreement with Qdoba Mexican Eats, and plans to open additional locations of The Greene Turtle here as well.

The first Long Island Roy Rogers location is expected to open in the fall of 2019. The Froccaro brothers told LIBN it will be located along the South Shore in the Town of Brookhaven. The locations for the other new restaurants have not yet been determined.
