Mary Kathryn Lynne

Mary Kathryn Lynne

Mary Kathryn (Berdal) Lynne, 72 years young, departed from her family on November 7, 2018, after battling dementia. The eldest of five children, Mary was born on July 4, 1946, to Erick and Dorothy Berdal, in Grand Forks, ND. She always loved celebrating being an Independence Day baby. Mary's childhood began on a farm, in Hope, ND, and the family eventually moved to Cooperstown, where Mary graduated from high school in 1964.

Mary dedicated her life to being a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a proud community member of Warren, MN. Mary's first passion was her family; she thrived at being a helpful mother and grandmother. She always attended reunions, family Christmases, weddings, graduations, and many other gatherings. Mary truly loved to cook and bake. She decorated many cakes for her loved ones and made innumerable batches of her famous peanut butter fudge.

Mary's second passion was her community. She answered the call to serve others through Our Savior's Lutheran Church, helping with Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and many other church committees. Mary took great pride in being a member and past-president of the Warren American Legion Auxiliary. Mary also enjoyed her job giving samples and demonstrations at area grocery stores. She loved to share, and had a heart of gold when it came to giving to those in need.

Mary is survived by her husband of 51 years, Gladwin; two daughters, LuAnn (Mark) Stillwell of Warrensburg, MO, and Belinda (Darin) Bye of Hillsboro, ND; five grandchildren, Hanna and Sampson Stillwell, and Dylan, Peyton, and Lyla Bye; and brothers, Leslie (Kristi), Dan (Vicki Jo Flick), and James (Joan) Berdal.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Charlotte; and her parents, Erick and Dorothy.
