Flood Watch Issued For 11 Counties Plus Baltimore

The weekend will get off to a rainy start in much of Maryland, with a flood watch taking effect Saturday.

BALTIMORE, MD — Up to 4 inches of rain could fall in parts of Maryland this weekend, according to the National Weather Service. Weather officials issued a flood watch for much of the state from midday Saturday through Sunday morning. This is a change in time frame from the initially announced watch period, which was supposed to start Friday.

About 1.5 to 2.5 inches of rain are likely, which locally higher amounts of 3 to 4 inches possible, according to the National Weather Service. The watch takes effect at noon on Saturday, Dec. 15, and runs until 6 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 16.

A flood watch means there is the potential for flooding. Runoff may cause creeks and streams to overflow their banks and urban areas to flood.
