Patti LuPone, Che Malambo coming to Eastman Theatre in April

Rochester, N.Y. (WHAM) - The legendary Patti LuPone will be performing in Rochester next month.

The Broadway star's “Don’t Monkey with Broadway” will be on stage at Kodak Hall at the Eastman Theatre on Sunday, April 29 at 8 p.m. She is known for her work in Evita, n Les Misérables, Sunset Boulevard, Sweeney Todd, and Gypsy.

LuPone will be joined by 21 members of Rochester Gay Men’s Chorus for select numbers. in this one-night-only performance. Performing with Patti LuPone are 21 members of the Rochester Gay Men’s Chorus (RGMC).

On Tuesday, April 17, the Argentinian based company Che Malambo will be on stage. Che Malambo uses a fast-paced footwork inspired by the rhythm of galloping Argentinean horses. Bombo drums, swinging and whirling boleadoras are all part of the spectacle that celebrates the unique South American cowboy tradition of the gaucho.

An all-male company of 14 dancers will comprise the performance, which is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m.

Both performances are part of the Eastman Presents Series.
