Is it too late now to say Barbie?
Disney released a new Belle doll for the upcoming “Beauty and the Beast” movie starring Emma Watson. However, the doll resembles Justin Bieber more than it does Watson.
Flickr user William Herrington posted photos of the doll after seeing one at a J.C. Penny in Grand Junction, Colorado. Herrington told Buzzfeed his “excitement turned to disappointment and disgust” when he saw the new Belle doll and noted it had no resemblance to Watson.
“I knew that Disney Store’s live action dolls are never 100% accurate to the actors, but this one was atrocious!” Herrington said. “Her face was shiny and covered in freckles (that looked more like a skin disease) and her head looked like it was being ripped open and torn where the hair was rooted into the head.
Once the photos were online, the internet immediately had fun with the new doll. Many were shocked at the appearance while others thought it was hilarious. There were even a few that thought it also looked like Lord Farquaad from “Shrek.”
Currently, the doll is not listed on J.C. Penny’s website nor on Disney’s official online store.
Maybe Disney is working on making the doll look more like a princess instead of someone who parties on boats with the New York Giants.
