GILBERTS, IL – A former Gilberts man pleaded guilty Tuesday to a second-degree murder charge for the 2010 fatal shooting of his roommate. Su Won Kil, 50, of the 1900 block of Prairie Square, now faces a sentence of up to 20 years in prison but also could get a much lesser sentence of probation, according to a news release from the Kane County State's Attorney's Office. He is set to be sentenced on July 18.

Prosecutors said Su Won Kil killed his roommate, Dae Hae Kwok, after a verbal and physical confrontation on Aug. 18, 2010. Su Won Kill had been letting Dae Hae Kwok live with him in his Gilberts townhome, but in July 2010, asked him to move out. Dae Hae Kwok refused and stayed in the townhouse.

On Aug. 18, 2010, prosecutors said the two got into a fight. Dae Hae Kwak displayed and used a stun gun before Su Won Kil pulled out a .38 caliber handgun and fatally shot Dae Hae Kwak.
