First half blitz earns Celta Vigo big win away to Eibar

Few expected Eibar to hit the heights of the previous campaign in 2017/18 but Sunday night's 4-0 demolition job at the hands of Celta Vigo may raise a large number of concerns around Estadio Ipurua.

The Basque side have only gotten the better of Leganes at home so far this season and conceding three goals in 22 first half minutes was a nightmare response to last weekend's 6-1 mauling at Barcelona.

Opening the scoring just after the quarter-hour mark was Gustavo Cabral and the visitors' advantage was doubled when Sergi Gomez found himself alone in challenging for Pione Sisto's whipped free-kick.

Pablo Hernandez was then awarded the freedom of the city to hit a shot on the half volley at the far post, Celta's third goal coming after just 39 minutes. Making it four was Daniel Wass, firing home unmarked from a square ball just inside the box.

A trip to a similarly out of touch Villarreal awaits for Eibar in a week's time, two days before which Juan Carlos Unzue will seek his first back-to-back victories as Celta boss, away to Girona.
